I have switched from CRT monitor to LCD 17 Samsung monitor. Now I have some serious problems with my eyesight and I do not find picture quality (especially text) to be satisfying. I thinking that the monitor is the problem and I wanted to hear an advice from you before I return this monitor.

It might be bad monitor but first check a few things. CRT and LCD monitors are differently making and showing picture so try to adjust contrast and brightness. It is also very important to run LCD monitor on native resolution. As you mentioned problems with text I have to ask you if you have set clear type for Windows fonts. This will much improve visual appearance.
