Hello. I have serious problem with my dial up connection. I have Rockwell 56k dial up modem. No matter what I put inside connection settings boxes, it always dial and connects with the half of speed. Sometimes, it connects me at 37.3 kbit/s and that is premium speed. It never achieved 50 Kbit/s. And I know that other people do have higher speed than I do. So, where should I search for solution? How to achieve greater speed? Thanks in advance.

There are several factors that do affect your dial-up connection. FCC regulation, Phone Line Conditions, The switch for the Telephone line companies, the distance from the company Exchange, phone line wiring, internal wiring and the brands. There is a mathematical explanation which prove that modems cannot operate at their marked speed. The higher speed for almost every dial up modem is no more than 53 kbit/s, and the conditions must be perfect for that. You cant do anything but to make some complains to your provider.
