I have recently started thinking about getting on the Internet. I have a Windows XP SP2 and I have recently bought a cable modem. However, my system does not seem to recognize it, even though I was told Windows should install it automatically. If anyone could give me any suggestion, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

It is true that Windows installs most of the drivers automatically, during its installation. However, that is not always the case, especially when it comes to less known component manufacturers. It seems to me it would be pretty useful, if you went to the site of the manufacturer and downloaded the latest drivers. After that, Windows should recognize it and you will not have any problems. Sometimes Windows needs to recognize a new hardware in order for that installation to be successful. In order to do that, you should unplug your modem, and that plug it back in. It should be enough to solve the problem.
