I have Compaq Armada with Windows XP installed. Windows XP was heavily infected with some viruses and I had to reinstall it. Installing process went fine but Windows is not able to detect sound card. Sound card is onboard and I thought that Windows should recognize it without problems. It is Realtek sound card which is very common, as far as I know. Do you have any suggestions regarding this problem?
Hello. If you want to install onboard sound card you will need drivers for your motherboard. Only then will Windows recognize integrated sound card. Visit motherboard manufacturer web site and download appropriate drivers. Sound card drivers will be bundled with these drivers, or you can find only drivers for sound card. I recommend you first option because it is very good decision to install original drivers for motherboard.
