I know there is Microsoft's Anti-spyware software on the market and am wondering how good it is. It is some else’s software company program that they upgraded as I heard. Does it offer some advanced features comparing other spyware products since it is made by OS manufacturer itself?

I can tell you something about it. Actual release is Windows Defender beta 2 and you can download at Microsoft.com. I read that its advantages are in integration with a system, and there are some good things, e.g. it controls your dial-up or wireless connection and alerts if third party tries to access your network. This looks like firewall function to me, it’s possible that functions are integrated between these two. Else, you can be sure that nothing will add a startup value on your system without your knowledge. When I think better this is again what firewalls do. There is interesting thing Browser Hijack Restore that turns back to Microsoft defaults. If it is hijacked you can restore, but not to what you used to use but to MSN.com, MSN Search, and the MSN Search Toolbar. Funny, isn’t it?
