Is it possible to have a slave drive recognized and appearing in the Device Manager, and yet not have it appear in Windows Explorer (or any other utility app that I tried, for that matter)? Because that seems to be exactly what is going on here at the moment. I have some important data on that drive (mostly photo material). Any help would be appreciated.
It sounds like a formatting issue to me. Start up the Disk Manager, and see what it says there in the properties. If you haven't, go to the Maxtor site and check the support offered there, they should have some tools for file management on drives of dubious system status.
