Hi! I have a huge problem. The Matshita DVD drive on my laptop has just disappeared all of a sudden. I don’t know why did this happen since I haven’t done any changes to my system recently and I’m sure I have no viruses or spyware since I do regular scans and updates of the programs I’m using. The drive cannot be seen neither in the Windows Explorer tree, nor in the Device Manager section in the Control Panel. What could have happened? Any advice on how I could fix this would be greatly appreciated!

I think that this can be solved by doing some changes to your registry. Anyway, be sure to back it up first because changes to your registry may cause serious problems if they’re not done as they should. Run the regedit and find this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class/{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}. You should then click ‘Export’ on the ‘File’ menu.
In the ‘File name’ box, type savedkey and save it.
Now, click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type UpperFilters, delete it via ‘Edit’ menu.
Do the same with the REG_MULTI_SZ data type LowerFilters. After you’ve closed the registry editor, you should reboot and everything should be back to normal. I hope this helps.
