Hi there. I am about to install Mandrake together with Windows XP. Windows XP is already installed, so I think that I can freely continue with the set up of Mandrake. I just need few steps in order to bring everything to order, without to blew something up before success. Thanks in advance.

Hello. Installing Mandrake should be somehow easier than to install the Windows 98 for example. The best practice for Windows/Linux dual boot system is to have two different hard drives. You can do everything with a single drive but it is not recommended. There is a lot of difference regarding Linux and Windows approach to the hard drive. Anyway, before you take the first step, make one blank partition, about 10 gigs, for later from Linux setup of file system. After that just put your Mandrake CD and start doing it. Remember this for partitioning, C:\ for windows is equal to /dev/hda1 for Linux. D:\ /dev/hda2 and so on. /dev/hdb1 is first partition on a secondary hard drive. Also, pay attention when installing a Boot Loader. Select Lilo, It is easier to setup Lilo than any other.
