Hi, I have always heard of these two terms but I do not know what is the difference, if there is any. Could someone enlighten me on this?

Malware stands for Malicious software. It is more than just viruses. Malware is exactly what its name implies: mal (meaning bad, in the sense of malignant or malicious rather than just poorly done) + ware (short for software). More specifically, malware is software that does not benefit the computer’s owner, and may even harm it, and so is purely parasitic. There are many kinds of malware, some examples are worms, trojans, spyware, rookits and of course viruses.

So a short conclusion would be that a virus belongs to the vast category of malware. If you have any further questions, please ask.
