I have heard some good things about MailWasher application. The thing that really caught my eye is this programs ability to learn and upon that decide if mail is a spam or not. This option has really fascinated me and I would like you to explain to me how these learning filters really work. I would really appreciate any kind of explanation.

MailWasher really has, so called, learning filters but they are not so fascinating as it could seem at the firs look. It is algorithm based on Bayesian statistical probability to calculate if message is a spam or not based on your prior selection of spam and good e-mails. Unfortunately, it is not ideal solution because, like all other statistical approaches, it has possibility to make a mistake based on input.
