Hello. I think this one should be relatively easy to solve. There are more different reasons for installation of Microsoft updates, or some other software, to fail. This is one possible solution and I think it should work since it is mentioned that problem is with Cryptographic service. Here is how it goes:
You need to start this service by setting it to automatic start, since, probably it failed to run. It is Services under Administrative Tools utility in Control Panel that you need to open. Right-click Cryptographic Services, and then click Properties. Click Automatic for Startup type, and then click Start.
After this procedure, you may try to install updates again. I think restart of computer is not necessary. If the problem persist there might be some other issues about it and other possible solutions.
