I am planning to overclock my P4 2.4GHz cpu, thus I think the cooling I have won’t be strong enough. It’s also important for me that my computer remains quiet, so I think I’ll go for some liquid cooling system. What is the best? Methanol, glycol, antifreeze, or some combination of these?

Hi there! Combination of methanol and water is something you should make, imho. You need to make 70 to 30 combination (water/methanol) to get the optimal cooling results. However, you should be careful when handling methanol – wear special protecting glasses and gloves while making the combo. If it still keeps freezing, you can add more methanol to the mixture.
