| There are some very heated discussions on the internet about strengths and weaknesses of these systems. The problem is that most of this discussions, especially if they involve comparison between systems, and up in flame war. Than the logic and facts run away from discussion and you are unable to find any relevant facts to decide which system has some advantage over another. So, can you tell me what Linux advantages over Windows or Mac OS X are? |

| This is a hard question. None of these systems is perfect and they all have its advantages and disadvantages. Mostly choosing a system depends on your needs. If you are a normal user (internet, mail, office application etc) then there are no relevant technical differences between them and that is where Linux main advantage pops up. It is free. No fees for Windows nor overly expensive Mac hardware and it can do, more or less, the same things as them. Next advantage is if you need free, reliable, virus free and efficient server for small to mid size enterprises. |
