I am running Windows XP Home Edition and use Internet explorer browser. When I click any link on any web page in Internet Explorer new window opens and it stays blank. I can not follow any links from web pages. This is a strange problem and I have not seen anything like this before. Do you have some knowledge about this issue?

As strange as it may seem, this looks like file association problem. Open My computer click on View Folder Options and go to File types. Find URL: Hypertext Transfer Protocols entry and make sure that Internet explorer is in action box. Do the same thing for URL: Gopher entry. After this open command prompt and register following files: Urlmon.dll, Shdocvw.dll, Shell32.dll, Oleaut32.dll, Actxprxy.dll and Mshtml.dll. In the case you do not know you can register dlls with regsvr32 [dll name] command. Register these files one by one.
