I am listening all that hype about Linux lately and I have decide to learn something about this operating system and see for myself is it so good or it is just hype (of course, it will be just my opinion). My knowledge about Linux is very limited and I would like you to recommend me something to start with in my learning.

Naturally, you will need Linux first. Download some beginner friendly distribution like PCLinuxOS 2007 or Ubuntu and install it. Installation is not a problem and it will be over before Windows XP installation. After this find some good book about Linux administration and learn. Of course, you can find much information on internet and you can learn without book. Excellent source for learning is Linux Documentation Project. You will find everything you need on their web site, including few free (but excellent) books.
