It's my Acer Travel Mate. It just dies during each and every boot-up attempt (it's Win XP). I tried getting it into safe mode, same deal. I tried unplugging some peripherals to see if it's overloaded or something, but that didn’t change a thing. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance…

Sounds to me like you've got power issues. If that's the case, unhooking peripherals (depending on what you mean by that) probably isn't going to make much of a difference. You'll need to replace the power supply, and that can be a major pain in the ass, depending on your laptop model, so you'd better just take it in for repair. Other than that, you might want to try booting off of the install CD for your copy of Windows, just in case your HD installation is somehow corrupted, but that's just a shot in the dark.
