I asked around and I heard only Win 95 doesn't have support for a USB 2.0 flash drive, and even with that there are some ways around it, but Win 98 does support it. If that's so, then how come I can't get my PCMCIA card to work on Win 98 SE? The guy who sold it to me mumbled something about incompatibility issues later, and said there's nothing he can do. The laptop in question is an old Extenza 610. Am I just shit out of luck here?

You're not really making much sense here, but let me see if I understand … any of that. You can't get your USB drive to work on your laptop because … it's got Windows 98 installed? That's just wrong. The OS has nothing to do with that, since as you heard correctly, USB 2.0 works on Win 98. Where it doesn't work (as in, can't be used) is a machine without a cardbus slot (32-bit.) If your machine has only slots fit for ISA (16-bit) cards, then yes, you are shit out of luck.
