My screen just went dark! I was working and it died on me! Everything still kept on going, I could still hear the music in the background, but the LCD is black! I had to turn everything off the hard way (Ctrl-Alt-Del), and now I can't even login at startup – it sounds like the boot up goes on normally, but the LCD screen is still dark and I can't see a ting and I may be panicking a little now, I know… Please help, I'm desperate over here!

You didn't mention those little things, like for example what laptop you've got in the first place. Anyway, can you switch to a different display by pressing Fn + F8 or whatever command it is for you? If that doesn't work, try plugging your desktop monitor (I'm assuming you have one) into the laptop. Either way, as soon as you get some sort of display, try flashing the BIOS, it's possible that there's nothing physically wrong with the monitor itself (here's hoping…)
