Laptop AC Adapter bad

I think AC adapter on my laptop is bad. I have Dell Inspirion 8600 and I left it overnight connected to AC adapter so battery can be recharged. When I powered it up this morning I found out that battery is still 50% full as it was when I connected I to power adapter. Can you tell me if I am right about AC adapter?

This is not necessarily problem with AC adapter. You would have similar problem if battery is bad, also. You should try to run laptop only with AC adapter connected (take battery out) and see what will happen then. If laptop works then it is more likely that battery is dead. Anyway, call support for your laptop. Maybe they know something about your problem.
