LCD Monitor drive me nuts

I have Prestigio LCD monitor that drives me nuts. I am not able to run on declared resolution. In manual it says that this 17 monitor can have up to 1280x1024 resolution but all I was able to accomplish is 1024x768. When I try higher resolutions it just flickers and reverts to 1024x768. Is there anything I can do about this problem?

Yes there is and it is a very simple thing. Return monitor to reseller and ask for good one. Of course if monitor is faulty. To troubleshoot this, take monitor to your friend and try it on his computer. If it behaves the same way then monitor if faulty. If it works fine on another computer you might have an issue with video card or video card driver.
