I must tell you that I have problems with frequent disconnections in Netgear LAN router. When it is working, it goes only up to 512Kb, so it needs disabling internal firewall function. I can see that this connection has much more speed, because it is written on the box. But, when I plug it in, nothing is working. Only that speed is showing up. Every other button is just not working. That is why I need your help with this. I will appreciate any help I get.

This is very common problem with inexperienced PC users. Majority of them think that it is easy to buy and to install new hardware components. You must read the instructions if you want to use your Netgear WGR113 router. Almost every modem or router that is made in the past year, or so, has additional settings on it. In default mode, or in the state when you buy it, only the low broadband speeds are working. Every other you must activate with the drivers that come with the modem or a DSL router. Just install those drivers and you will be able to use the higher speed that 512Kb.

I will agree with the last post. It is very important to install all the required drivers if you want to use all the functions of your brand new connection with old router from Netgear. That is just one of the many fancy things manufacturers are putting in new hardware. I just do not see the point of that, because you can use it in many other ways. This way, the router is just getting bigger with more options and harder to set up. We do need so many options. The most users are just happy with the basic settings, which will allow us to use the maximum speed. That way, there is no way to make anything wrong.
