It's sort of a weird situation, let me explain: I tried installing Windows XP on an old laptop (which used to have Win 9 , did a clean format, but at the first restart got stopped by a "you've got no keyboard, stoopid!" error message. Of course, I couldn't finish the installation. But then I went beack to Win 98, and the installation went perfectly! The keyboard is now working, of course.
Any ideas as to what's going on, and how do I install XP on this thing? |

| That *is* a weird situation. My only guess would be some kind of BIOS error, maybe resetting or flashing it would help. Maybe also try removing the CMOS battery, leaving it out for a couple hours, and then putting it back in. BTW, what laptop brand/model are we talking about here? |
