Does anyone have experience with Western Digital drives? I just bought a WD Raptor and it failed. Not on the floor, it just doesnt respond. You know, I can hear those clicks and they are damaging my drive. The more I wait the more my HDD gets broken. So I have contacted my supplier and he said that I should do the test. Like, there is a piece of software which will tell me whether my hdd is alright or no. And then I should send him the report. Where can I find this software? Is there a something special for Western Digital? And how to run this test when my hard dive is broken?

| I havent heard anything about specialized hard drive software. I assume that he meant SiSoftSandra. It can be found on the internet of course. Its pretty expensive so think if you really need it. There is a great piece of software called Ndata. Its purpose is HDD recovery, and you should run this test to see if there is really a physical mistake or some virus. Western Digital is a great choice, so you cannot blame it. I am personally more into Seagate drives because they are faster but WD is good as well. SeaGate is a bit louder then the other one, but that is because of its 16 MB of buffer. There are different series for every manufacturer. Cheap and premium. So you cant accept anything good from those q series, just to know. What is your Wd series, it is written on your hard drive box? |
