Hi,
I recently heard that having older versions of Java on your system can be harmful, as in "presenting a security risk" harmful? And also that updating it to a newer version might not solve the problem, because Java sort of overwrites the old instance without removign it? How do I get rid of it then? This is what I have on ATM:
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
Java 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3.1
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.0_01
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.0_03
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.1_02
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1
?

| All of the above are outdated. Well, not exactly all, the last one (Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1) seems up to date, but it doesn't matter, because you obviously still have the 5 version. What you'll need to do is uninstall them all (including the last one) using the Add/Remove Programs Dialogue, and only then then download and install the latest version. |
