What is this? I hear of Java and Java script but what is Java environment?
I downloaded some Java programs from the net and they said that I need to install Runtime Environment. Also they gave me a link to Sun site and there is option to download it. Note that Im not a programmer and I dont need Java for programming.
Can somebody explain me what is all about?

Dont worry Java is not just for programmers. Well any programming language is not just for programmers. If it was programmers wouldnt have customers to buy their products.
I dont want to confuse you but you are lucky boy Java is free. And Runtime Environment is just a place where all Java code is getting chance to show what hes got.
It means that, if you dont have it on your system, there is a small chance to see any Java applet rolling there.
And looks like you wanted some Java applets (programs) to work..hm
So I hate to tell you this, but the only possible solution is to actually install that RE.
So dont be afraid its not some programming stuff its actually quite useful thing to have.
Java is becoming BIG and its almost impossible to live on internet without it. So go ahead as I said before its totally free.
