This Windows XP feature is annoying me a lot. When I switch users in Windows XP dial up connection is dropped. This behavior is quite unacceptable for me and I would like to make windows keep connection alive after user switching. Can this be done in some way or this is an issue I will have to live with?

Well, you are right. This feature is on of those Windows features I can not understand and I had same issues with it while I was using dial up connection. There is a workaround for this problem but you will have to do some registry editing. Open registry editor by typing regedt32 in command prompt or run dialog. Find following entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon. Add new string value to Winlogon, name it KeepRasConnections and set its value to 1. Now connection will be kept alive after user switching.
