Do you think that both computers I want to connect have to be on the same operative system in order for everything to run smoothly? I’ve bought router D-Link DI 524 and I connected PCs, router and modem just like the instructions say and since, one of the PCs has XP installed and the other one Vista, the PC with vista has connection while the one with XP doesn’t. Any hints about this?

I have no idea what the problem could be. My mind is blank but I can only guess and maybe I get the right issue. So, maybe it’s just OS incompatibility and sometimes there are fixes and patches in order to bridge that kind of problem. I don’t know whether Microsoft tech support has this issue on their list, but you can contact them and explain the symptoms. I really don’t think it has anything to with router since one of the computers has connection. So, it’s probably only software error, which can be dealt with much easier. And, just maybe, try to install the driver for routes on the PC that doesn’t have connection.
