I have a Pioneer 108d DVD drive, which is about 1 year old. At first, it was working fine, until I bought one of those mini cds. After installing nero, program reported a message. Something like: Your DVD is not available at the momentIt doesnt recognize any cd or DVD. I checked all of my connections. Power cable, IDE cable, audio cable. Everything is working, and I can here sound from my DVD drive, but its completely useless. What should I do?

108 d is fine DVD recorder, its certainly not a hardware error. Go to the pioneer official site and check for new firmwares. Download it and after installing reboot. What is happening? The problem youre experiencing could be due to the physical damage. Those mini-DVDs can seriously damage your laser. My opinion is that you should take your computer to the supplier and ask them to repair it. There are also mini-DVDs shaped like star. Thats complete nonsense for me. Why would anyone wanted something like that? Another important thing is, what cds are you using? If its noname, then everything is clear. You shouldnt except that crap like that actually works, you know. Buy a Verbatim and have a peaceful dream!
