Is missing drive still alive?

Unpleasant surprise awaited me when I started computer this morning. My second hard drive is gone from My Computer and from device manager. Naturally, I restarted computer but that did not helped. I have some important data on this hard drive and I would like to know if missing hard drive is still alive.

It is hard to answer like this if missing hard drive is still alive. You should take this hard drive out and try to install it in some other computer to see if you can make it to work for some time so you can rescue data from it. It is a slim chance but you should try it. It will be worth vile if you rescue your data from this drive.
