| My computer wont see my hard drive. It is a secondary drive, so its not urgent or anything. My Windows XP is installed on my primary partition, and its doing well. I added this new hard drive because I want to share some stuff over the internet. When I have installed it I didnt see any mistakes in BIOS. Everything was working fine, but when I rebooted, system couldnt see it. I rebooted again and went to BIOS. It didnt report my secondary drive. By the way its a Maxtor. I think it could be the cable. |

Yes, actually it could be. IDE cables are very tricky because you can break it easily. I mean, you cant break it literally, but you can twist it. I had an interesting episode with my IDE cable. I tried to repair my hard drive for ages, and then I just move it a little bit. It was the cable all the time. So, unplug your device, carefully. Firstly, switch your computer, if you dont want to experience a current struck, like I did. Try your device with another computer, and you will be pretty sure whether it is a cable or hard disk. Remove your primary partition and try to boot your system with your Maxtor. What happened? Did you manage to do it? If its not a cable, then its a hard drive. In that case I think you cannot repair it. But check anyway!
