Is a good subwoofer really important in 2.1 systems?

Hi there. My kids are getting more and more older, and more and more advanced games are actual in their life. I know that there are no good games that do not offer extraordinary sound environment experience. I already have SB AUdigy, now I need some speakers. I saw one 2.1 model in the store across the street, but I think that only tweeters are promising on them. I expect some help here. Thanks in advance.

Here is one advice. Go and get HI-FI stereo speakers and amplifier with external processor support. You won’t need more than 90 watts per channel. 180 in total. I know that’s way too much stronger and louder and more expensive, but keep in mind that you might want to need some music regarding your self in the meanwhile, and Audigy cards are so full of digital environment effects, plus all games will sound extremely well.
