| Is YouTube banned in some countries? At first I couldn’t believe something like this is even possible, but than a friend told me that it was completely banned from Indonesia for example, and I am starting to believe it actually is. Has anyone heard something more specific? And if this is correct, what is your opinion about it? Many thanks |

| Well, I heard it was banned from Indonesia, but also from China, Morocco, Turkey, and some other countries. It was from many different reasons, but mostly because those sites distributed material of inappropriate content. Those sites were banned by the government, so all the Internet service provides somehow disabled approach to those sites. And it was not only YouTube that was banned, but also some other sites – like MySpace, Rapid Share…everything that enables sharing of thought and ideas, as well as some material between users, which is difficult to control. I also think that this is endangering the freedom of speech in those countries. It shouldn’t be tolerated. |
