Hi. I have bought new hard drive and I want to install it and format it so I can use this hard drive as a storage and backup drive. This is the first time I am doing this and I hope it is not too complicated operation. Can you explain to me how to install and format new HDD? Thank you in advance for your answer.

Installing and formatting new HDD is not complicated operation. You have not told me do you have SATA or IDE drive, but it is not a big problem. Only difference is that you have to check jumper settings on IDE drive and make sure that they are different then another device on the same IDE cable. Insert hard drive in appropriate slot and connect cable that leads to motherboard and cable that leads from PSU. When Windows starts it will recognize new hardware and install it automatically. Final step is formatting. Right click on “My Computer” and choose “Manage”. Click disk management and create partition from unallocated space on new hard drive.
