Depending and waiting for people to perform any kind of PC tasks and settings can be tiresome, so taking the things in your own hands can be good choice if you are following the rules the proper way. First you must be certain that you have room for new HD (usually case have 3 1/2 inch bays for extra drives), if you don’t have then it is not safe installing it .. Remove the case cover and then if you have. You will need to have an extra connector on you mother board + IDE cable or extra connector on IDE cable. Check up IDE cables on the CD-Rom drive or hard drive if they have extra connectors then you are ok or buy new IDE cable for connecting it on the extra connector on the motherboard, and make sure that the cable can reach to the position of your HD. Check all jumper settings of your current IDE devices. Current HD should be set on master so now that you are having the second one which you suppose to set on Slave According to the jumpers, if you are connecting to the CD-Rom cable then change its settings to the Slave and new HD to Master, and connecting on the motherboard will ask you to define the second HD IDE cable connection and keeping already boot HD as Master – Primary one. It is important to set the hard drive in right bay that will apply enough space and air flow for keeping it cool. Silver side of the HD should be on top and connector should face the motherboard so you can plug it in easily. Connect extra power cord from your power supply to it, and in the case that you are missing those buy some splitters. Then plug your IDE cable into the hard drive and close the case. After the drive is installed you need to boot the computer. Reboot the PC and in the moment when first screen starting to appear hit Delete key or any other the screen is telling u to use. That action will allow you to enter into SETUP(CMOS). During the setup, you will see the menu item that says “Auto Detect IDE Drives” which will detect the drive. After that action go to Save and Exit and let the PC do its job. If you set up this new drive as Master one and has no operating system on it then you must boot from boot disk in A:\, and prompt for wanted action partition or format drive, in case that you have operating system on you don’t need the disk for boot. Hope no need to wait for people in your case anymore!
