My installation process keeps getting stuck at 41 percent no matter what I do! I've tried it a few times now, selecting different install options for experimentation purposes, and it always goes only to 41% and stops there, with only the advertising crap running, telling me about the merits of MS and all that. It stays like that for a long time, and then I just power it off and back on again, and all the progress has been lost. What do I do?!

Exactly how long does it get "stuck" at that point? Is it like minutes, tens of minutes, hours, what? If it's really not all that long, I suggest you trey waiting it out (read a book) because XP installs can get quirky like that from time to time. However, if it really, really won’t move any further, I would blame it on a bad install CD, and try to replace it at the local store.
