Hello. I’ve been hearing about this update to Windows XP called SP2 for quite a while now, but have been putting off the decision on whether or not to update all this time. Now, finally, I tried looking up some review articles about SP2, and haven’t found much. The most promising one was called “Inside Look at SP2”, but that was still pre-release. Could you guys link me to some up-to-date reviews, preferably not on the MS site? I want to establish whether or not I really need this update. Thanks in advance.

I don’t really know what you would consider up to date, since SP 2 has been out for years already. The long and short of it is this: If you’re running Windows XP, you need the Service Pack 2 update, and badly. It’s basically a bunch of overdue corrections for security problems that shouldn’t have been there in the first place, raning from minor (like the firewall being on by default) to major (the fix for the winsock thing). It’s a free download, so grab it and don’t look back.
