| I have an old P1 PC which I use if my primary machine fails. It has a Win98 system on it. Unfortunately, since yesterday I am unable to boot it up. I get the error: “Insert bootable media in appropriate drive”. When I insert boot disk, everything seems okay. I ran a scandisk for C: even a couple of times and found no errors! What could be wrong? |

| You’re lucky to get good results with scandisk – this means your HDD is okay. I think the problem could be in corrupted basic system files? Since you say that booting doesn’t start at all, it’s most likely some of vital system files – command.com, msdos.sys, or io.sys. Locate them on your start up floppy, and copy them to c:\. |
