When I try to run some applications on Mac I get insufficient memory error and application refuses to start. This is very confusing because I have 512MB RAM which should be more then enough for applications I need. Is this some hardware problem, like my memory is slowly dying, or some bug which can be corrected?

If you have enough memory then you need simply to optimize its usage. To do that follow next steps. Go to Apple Menu - Control panel - Memory. Set virtual memory on 1 MB ant turn off RAM disk. Save settings and restart computer. If error continues to appear try disabling extensions. But in the most cases this procedure should resolve your problem. If all of this fails then contact Apple support. You may have some hardware issues.
