I'm trying to use ImageReady to edit some quicktime videos, and it's just taking too damn long to open them, and even longer to save them! Now, I know I shouldn't be using IR for this, but the point is I used to be able to do this just fine up until a week ago, which is about the time I updated IR (well, a few days after). My system specs should be more then enough, so it must be the update that somehow screwed things up, right? How an they allow things like this to happen?!

I seriously doubt it was the update that slowed down your process. At least I never heard of that happening before. You should check your system resources before, after, and during the editing process, and see how that stands; it's possible that something else is stealing the CPU/memory from IR so it fails to perform. If you have AV or firewall software active, try disabling them while working. Speaking of which, do a scan for malware, that could be a cause of a resource hit.
