I got a new Acer computer last month as a present from my parents. They also installed me a DSL Internet connection. Then a friend from college installed me Torrent software for movie downloading. At the beginning, everything worked fine. Since yesterday, my Internet connection is slow. Do I maybe have a virus? How can I identify theft definition?

I think that you are probably infected with some sort of Downloader or Trojan virus. Its job is to allow access and theft to hard drive content on your computer to his owner. Those viruses are rather common on the Internet. I had to reinstall my OS because of torrent using. That was at the beginning. However, from my personal experience I found out what to use for protection. The protection that I have been using for last six months is combination of AVG and Seagate Personal firewall and I don't have any problems. Use AVG from the Safe mode to clean all viruses from your computer and then, install Seagate Personal firewall. I think you will be safe enough after that.
