| Hi! I was wondering if I can speed up my PC? What about overclocking? Is it safe, mean I have an extra fan, which I can install. My configuration is following: motherboard ASUS with 677 Mhz bus, 1 GB RAM, 120 GB HDD, Syncmaster monitor, HP printer. Processor is Duron 1600. In my motherboard it actually says that I could overclock it from BIOS. Seems little strange from me, how can it be possible? Is there a piece of software for this purpose? Thanks? |

| You dont need any fancy software for overclocking. BIOS is enough, you just need to be very careful. I recommend you to read some manuals about overclocking. It will be very helpful if your system fail during a reboot. You wont be able to access the internet then, wont you? Basically, you go to BIOS select motherboard speed, like 677, and reboot. There is a term called multiplier. It means how many times will your CPU work faster? For example if you select 1.5 x you will speed it up by 50 , get it? But dont use those big values, choose something slower like 1.2, and give it a try. You can experience some strange symptoms, like sudden reboots, be careful. If you screw up something, simply go back to BIOS and select the lower speed. Your CPU temperature will be increased, so you should definitely install an extra fan. Or heating, whatever you call it. |
