| Computer gaming industry is, most certainly, one of the bigger reasons for fast computers development. With every new game, you would have to provide more speed, power or hard drive space. Anyway, buying a new CPU is never false investment. However, you should pay attention about what type of CPU's your motherboard supports. By that, I don't mean just AMD or Intel. I think you should precisely find out exact CPU socket type on your motherboard. To help you, if you have an AMD CPU you could have next socket type on your motherboard: 462, 754,939 and AM2. If you have an Intel CPU sockets could be 478 or 775. CPU's, which you could find today, are either AM2 or 775 socket types. If you have some older type of CPU then you should probably have to, together with a new CPU, replace your motherboard, memory (DDR with DDR2 type) and your video card (AGP with PCI express type). |
