Lately when I restart by computer, Windows XP always shows the blue screen at startup which says somting about one or more of my drives having errors on it and needing to be checked. This happens each and every time, even though I shut down the system correctly, and I don't know what causes this, but if I choose to skip disk checking, it doesn't boot at all, just freezes there! What's wrong, and how do I make it right? TIA

This sometimes happens when the chkdsk key is corrupted. Try removing it from within the system, by editing the registry (Start / Run / type "regedit") to go to the following entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager. Once there, just delete the key named REG_MULTI_SZ. That might do the trick.
