I cannot create a new folder on desktop?

Hello all! I have a real newbie question for you so I apologise in advance. At the moment I’m using this one computer that has no icons on the desktop whatsoever. I wanted to create personal folder on the desktop to store some of my files but I can’t seem to do that. I click ‘create new folder’ on the menu but nothing happens, the desktop stays empty. Do I need to make some sort of adjustment in Windows before doing it? Thanks.

Firs of all, it’s usually a bad idea to create folders on the desktop – it’s just untidy. But it’s your call. Second, the reason your desktop is empty is because all the icons are hidden. You can turn this option of by right clicking on the desktop, and on the ‘arrange icons’ submenu checking the ‘show desktop icons’ option.
