| Trying to install Halo 2 on my laptop, I managed to screw up the kernel. Now I cant get my system started. Installation process goes to 15, than it stops. I dont have anything important, by I dont want to format my drive. Kernel is the thing I know the less, so I dont know nothing about programming it. How to access the grub boot menu? I dont see any window with it. Thanks guys! |

| You may need to press f4 to get access. Do this and chose recovery mode. In the recovery mode, choose try to restore my system, and wait. What kind of image do you use? Is it generic, because if it is, you must use sudo. If that fails you must go to the console and do some programming. Sorry, but this is the only way. Kernel is the core of Linux system, ass well as for windows or any other. In the console you should use kernel mode, not a user mode. Kernel mode prevents your system files from being damaged, and you can easily use access to I/O devices. Best option is to install your inux is from the interent, because in the console, your I/O devices maybe wont work. Grub boot menu allows you only to recover your previously saved files, so it wont help you much. |
