I am using several IM clients on a regular basis. Lately I am hearing more and more stories about viruses that spread over instant messaging clients. I am not paranoid but these viruses are becoming more intrusive as time passes. Is there some efficient protection or we have to beware this malicious software and fear when we chat with friends?

Hello. Situation is not that grim. If you are careful and know what you are doing then probability of virus infection is second to none. Most of these viruses that are trying to spy victim's habits or to steal identity over IM are counting on user curiosity and lack of caution. IM users should beware of these viruses but think before you click, keep antivirus and antispyware updated and you will be fine.
