I have the IBM Thinkpad 600 and I put the XP on it. Everything is alright except the sound. It didn’t work from the beginning. Then I updated the drivers and they kind of fixed it but just until the next reboot when settings somehow returned to the previous ‘no sound’ state. Why is this happening? What can I do to fix this? Please, I need help ASAP!
I’ll give you here the official instruction on how to install the updated sound drivers for thinkpad since you didn’t say where you downloaded them from and it might be that you’ve done it improperly. This driver should be installed by using the Crysetup Installer. You should first boot your machine and log in as an administrator. Access the ‘Command prompt’(Start->All Programs-> Accessories->Command Prompt), type C:\DRIVERS\WXP\AUDIO\CRYSETUP –S and hit ‘enter’. In about a minute the installation will be finished so you should just type ‘exit’ to close the ‘command prompt’ window and now your drivers should be working OK.
