Here's the deal: I have the Thinkpad 600E, and I want to upgrade the processor on it. Not knowing much about hardware myself, I had a friend over to do the honors. However, something went wrong, and the guy blames my machine instead of taking responsibility himself . He says my bios won't support a processor this fast, and I need to flash it to work. I didn't want to admit I had no idea what he was talking about, so I was all like fine, I'll do it myself, thanks for nothing. Now… could someone please tell me what flashing means (in this context!) and how do I do it? Will it really help? Thanks in advance.

Flashing the BIOS means updating it to a newer version. You've updated drivers for a device before, haven't you? Well, this is similar to that only a little more risky. Basically, you go to the motherboard manufacturer's website, find and download the update, and then install it. I would recommend reading an online guide before you try this (just google one out). As to whether or not it will help, I couldn’t tell you without knowing the details (what CPU, what motherboard, what BIOS version).
