Hello. I have just installed Slackware on my computer. Now, everything went fine through whole installation process, no matter this is my first time I am using Linux, and so on. I was very proud, until now. I saw how beautiful desktop environment is, and now after login, I see just blinking cursor waiting for me. Where is the graphic? How to start so called X?

You are very brave. Why Slackware? It is great distro, but not for beginners. I mean, maybe you can get some order in it, but that is very hard job. It is a text based distribution. First you must edit X config file, by typing xorgconfig without the quotes. Than you must answer on all questions, provided by Slack. There are several of them difficult to understand, so be careful, because one or two incorrect answers, can lead to Lets start over with the installation again, shall we?. But, after successful job, you can than just type: startx. And probably KDE desktop (part of X window) will appear, and welcome you. If you want to log out out of X graphic server, youll just have to click on log out button from KDE, like on Windows, and choose what to do. Or you can type logout in a shell you choose. Be careful when configuring X.
