Hello. I want to dig little deeper into a windows firewall, because I think that there are not enough parameters available for set up from the control panel, and I need to configure it well and tight because of certain and personal things that will flow trough my network. I dont know where the registry key that modifies and controls more things than usual is located. If anyone is willing to help I would appreciate such effort very much.
Windows NT version 5.0 or above should be the platform on your machine because otherwise I doubt that I can provide some useful tips. Some of the secrets lies in the DCOM and RPC services in the administrative tools if we are speaking of Windows XP or Windows 2000. Navigate to Component services in the Administrative tools. Expand the Component services and when you see the My Computer Icon right click on it and select properties. Now choose the Default protocols. Youll see TCP/IP and SPX oriented protocols. Click on TCP and than click properties. There you can add your specific port ranges. I hope this was helpful.
